Hyderabad, Aug 7 : AICC Secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Wednesday alleged that Seemandhra leaders were imposing agitation on the people of their region.
Talking to media persons in the Assembly premises, Sudhakar Reddy said that the Seemandhra leaders were ignoring the fact that two States would mean development of Telugus. Instead of debating the advantages of two Telugu-speaking States, he said some Seemandhra leaders were misleading the people while provoking the youth for violent protests. Stating that the Telangana decision was not instant, he said that the Congress party held wider consultations with different stakeholders for over three years. He said almost 90 per cent of the political parties and leaders support the division of the State.
Ponguleti suggested that Sadbhavana Yatras should be held in both the regions to promote harmony among the people of Seemandhra and Telangana. He appealed to all the political parties to help and cooperate in bring normalcy back into Seemandhra region. He also accused Minor Irrigation Minister TG Venkatesh of damaging the party and its leadership.
The AICC Secretary said that Bhadrachalam would remain part of Telangana State. Stating that protests were held in Khammam districts on Tuesday, he said that a strong presentation would be made to Antony Committee to ensure that Bhadhrachalam remains part of Telangana State. INN
