Hyderabad, July 30: While the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre is about to announce its decision on Telangana issue, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has indicated that it might form a new political front if the Centre decides to make Hyderabad a Union Territory.
MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has made it clear that his party would oppose any change in the status for Hyderabad City. With one Lok Sabha, seven Assembly and over 40 corporators in the GHMC, the MIM chief on Monday made it clear that being the dominant political party in the city the MIM would not allow the Centre to take any decision on Hyderabad without taking its residents into confidence.
Talking to different news channels at Darul-salaam, Asaduddin Owaisi reiterated that the MIM was against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh as it would strengthen communal forces in the Telangana region. When a reporter pointed out that the Congress was fulfilling its promise of formation of Telangana, the MIM chief said that the Congress party should also fulfill the promise made on December 6, 1992 by the then Congerss Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao of re-constructing Babri Masjid as its original place in Ayodhya. Further, a resolution was also passed in the Parliament for the re-construction of Babri Masjid. However, he said that the Congerss party did not take any steps to fulfill this promise that it made to the entire nation.
