Expedite recruitment in Medical and Health Dept: CM

Hyderabad, July 22 : Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday asked Health & Medical Department to expedite the process of recruitment of doctors, para-medical staff and nurses.

The recruitment of 1900 doctors be done up within the next three months. Similarly, recruitment of 9717 para medical staff is pending before the Group of Ministers for a decision on weightage to contract employees. The Chief Minister also suggested to fill up the posts of 11,970 nurses in a phased manner. He asked the officials to follow a time frame to complete the recruitment process.

The Chief Minister held a detailed review of issues relating to the Health Medical and Family welfare department at secretariat. He asked the Medical and Health department officials to settle the issues and quickly put in place the Employees Health Scheme. The Chief Minister said that the NIMS Rangapur and Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences should be immediately operationalized with 200 beds in Phase I. Both the hospitals will remain super speciality hospitals. He asked the Minister and senior officials to personally visit both the places and prepare a detailed project report so as to ensure that both these hospitals are operationalized at the earliest.

Kiran Kumar Reddy assured to provide the required funds. He emphasised the need to make the hospitals economically viable. He asked the officials to immediately constitute a search committee and appoint Directors for both the hospitals. He agreed to provide funds for strengthening Medical Education as per MCI norms. He asked the officials to come out with proposals for additional amount required for infrastructure and equipment in medical colleges and teaching hospitals. He said that there is no dearth of funds for medical department and the budget for medical and health department has been enhanced three times over the last three years.

The Chief Minister agreed to a proposal to set up a Nursing Board for regulating nursing education in the state. He suggested tapping NABARD funds for operationalising newly sanctioned nursing schools and colleges. Referring to the 108 services, the Chief Minister emphatically made it clear that the government rules should be followed at any cost and that alternative arrangements have to be made in view of the strike. Officials informed the Chief Minister that as against 743 vehicles, 583 are on roads. The EMRI has also hired staff from Chattisgarh and other places as a stop gap arrangement. He asked the officials to ensure that all the 108 vehicles are equipped with vehicle tracking systems.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Kondru Murali, Chief Secretary Dr.P.K.Mohanty, Principal Secretaries Health, L.V.Subhramanyam, Ajay Sawhney, Prl.Secretary, Finance Dr.P.V.Ramesh and other senior officials of health department attended the meeting. INN
