Hyderabad, July 21 : In view of heavy rains forecast by IMD and possible floods, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the Chief Secretary Dr.P.K.Mohanty to closely monitor the rescue and relief measures in coordination with all the concerned dist collectors, particularly East and West Godavari, Khammam, Adilabad, Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts.
The Chief Minister reviewed the rescue and relief measures being taken up in the flood affected districts with the Chief Secretary and other senior officials of central and state government, IMD and Railways. The Chief Minister said that relief work should continue on war footing. Adequate field staff should be kept ready and ensure that there should no loss of life and property. He said that the officials should ensure that required relief reached every needy person. He directed the Principal Secretary, health to closely watch situation and instruct all doctors, Medicines and chlorine tablets to be available at Hospitals.
The Chief Secretary informed that all efforts are being made for rescue and relief measures with the help of Army, Navy, Airforce, NDRF and the district administration. Special Officers already deputed are monitoring the situation. About 100 relief camps are being organized. Air-dropping of food packets was done on Sunday in Bhadrachalam division by the Sub Collector and Additional SP of Bhadrachalam. He said that due to high alertness and precautionary measures taken by the administration, human, cattle loss is prevented.
The officials have been asked to maintain the same alertness in all the areas of the state, where possible flooding is expected. Temporary restoration of roads is also being done. A close watch on bunds is being maintained. District Administration has been asked to take preventive measures like storage of sandbags etc.. He also asked the Minor Irrigation department to take of breaches of minor tanks and also strengthen the weakened tanks and bunds of vagus and rivers. The R&B & Panchayatraj departments should take care of the road breaches and take up immediate repairs. The District Collectors should immediately order temporary restoration and make the roads motorable. He asked the MA&UD and Rural Water Supply department to take care of drinking water supply in the flood-hit areas. He directed the Medical and Health Department to take care of supply of medicines and availability of doctors.
Officials informed that as per the forecast the flood level is likely to recede at Bhadrachalam while it will maintain at the same level at Rajahmundry. Drinking water, food packets, kerosene, ration, NDRF teams are being arranged wherever necessary. Rescue and Relief measures are being taken up in Khammam, Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad, Nizamabad, East and West Godavari districts. INN
