Hyderabad, July 13 : Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who is in Delhi, on Saturday telephonically reviewed the relief measures taken up and the rain situation in the State with Chief Secretary Dr P K Mohanty.
Following the directions from the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary directed the officials concerned to follow the guidelines already issued to them and provide relief to the affected people in rain-battered areas. He also directed the departments to take up all other relief works wherever required.
The Chief Secretary directed the District Collectors to constantly monitor the situation and evacuate the people from the low lying areas wherever and whenever necessary. He also told them to keep medical teams and medicines ready in case of necessities.
Officials informed that six deaths were reported so far in the State including four in Karimnagar, one in Visakhapatnam and one in Hyderabad. Two persons are reported missing in Khammam district. 25 houses (12 pucca and 13 kutcha) were fully and 16 houses severely damaged and 57 houses party damaged following heavy rains. The Chief Minister directed the District Collector that the kin of the dead be given relief as per norms.
Officials said that highest rainfall was recorded from areas like–Wamkidi (Adilabad)-40.6 mm, Jainad (Adilabad)-38.2 mm, Narnoor(Adilabad)-35.2 mm, Jiyyammavalasa (Vizianagaram)- 34.4 mm, Munchingiputtu (Visakhapatnam)-30.6 mm, Kothru (Srikakulam)- 28.4 mm, Pulkil (Medak)- 27.0 mm, Kurupam (Vizianagaram.)-24.4 mm, Narsapuram (West Godavari)-23.5 mm.
Meanwhile, the IMP forecasts no heavy rainfall in the State and only light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places in the State in the next 48 hours and there would be decrease in rainfall in the subsequent two days. INN
