Hyderabad, June 14 : Of 355 Model Schools sanctioned by the Central Government for the State, the construction of as many as 313 schools are nearing completion. The rest are at various stages.
Disclosing the information while replying to a question raised by MLAs G Veera Siva Reddy and others during Question Hour in the State Legislative Assembly here on Friday, Secondary Education Minister K Parthasarathy informed that Model Schools (ADARSH Schools) were being constructed with Central Assistance of 75 per cent 25 per cent State share. He said that the Centre launched the scheme of setting up Modl Schools in all the Educationally Backward Blocks/Mandals in the country.
Stating that the Centre has identified 737 Educationally Backward Mandals in the State, he said Model Schools in as many as 355 mandals were sanctioned in the first phase. The total outlay of Phase-I project is Rs 1072.10 crore, which includes State’s share of Rs 268.02 crore.
As per the norms for the Central Sponsored Scheme, Model Schools are constructed in G+1 with a Plinth Area of 2878.92 Sq M. INN
