GVMC owes over Rs 37 lakh Library Cess

Hyderabad, June 14 : Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath on Friday informed the State Legislative Assembly during Question Hour that the Grater Visakha Municipal Corporation has to pay Rs 37,66,99,901 to the Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha, Visakhapatnam, towards Library Cess.

Replying to a question raised by MLA T Vijaya Kumar, the minister said that the GVMC Commissioner and other officials concerned were being addressed by the Secretary and the Chairman of the Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha, Visakhapatnam, and would approach legally for remittance of Cess.

Sailajanath said that there was no proposal to establish libraries at ward level due to an existing ban. However, the proposal to open Book Deposit Centres was under consideration. INN
