Hyderabad, June 12 : As many as 21 people have been sent to jail by different courts for driving in inebriated condition.
While, Third Metropolitan Magistrate B Chengalaraya Nayudu convicted 17 people for a period of three days imprisonment each for drunken driving, Fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Shiva Shanker Prasad convicted four persons for a period of one day imprisonment each for drunken driving,
The Enforcement against Drunk Driving was carried out over the last weekend on June 7th & 8th. A total of 208 cases were booked against Drunk Drivers. The vehicles of all the respondents were detained which included 138 two-wheelers, nine three-wheelers and 60 four-wheelers. They attended the compulsory counselling sessions at TTI, Begumpet and Goshamahal on Monday.
The respondents were produced before the Third and Fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Court and fine Rs 2000 to 2,600 was imposed.
From 1st January, 2013 to 8th June, a total of 5,758 cases have been registered and total imprisonments are 460 as on date. INN
