Hyderabad, April 27 : The Humayun Nagar Police have arrested a gang of chain snatchers which was involved in 32 cases of chain snatching in the limits of Hyderabad City Police.
The alleged notorious snatching gang used to move on two wheeler motor cycles and snatch the gold ornaments from the women. The offenders used to commit the offences in the isolated places like colonies, parks, temples, super markets etc., and they will select lonely moving ladies. Police have recovered gold ornaments weighing about 1 kilogram worth nearly Rs 26 Lakh at the instance of accused.
Those arrested are Mohd Abdul Faheem, Abdul Sameer and Syed Abdul Nayeem while another accused Syed Ahmedullah is absconding. Two more persons – Mohd Abdul Kareem and Syed Shahnawaz, who received the stolen property have also been arrested.
The chain snatching offences were committed in the police station limits of Tappachabutra (2), Humayun Ngar (4), Langar Houz (8), Golconda (7), Asifnagar (3), Habeebnagar (1), Malakpet (4), Kachiguda (2) and Tirumalagiry (1).
Police have also seized two two-wheelers which were used to commit the offences.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) G Sudheer Babu has advised the public to be cautions and move in a group during morning walk/visit of temples, shopping malls, cinema theaters etc., He said that the woman should not expose the ornaments and should be careful while moving alone and observe surrounding areas.
The people should dial 100 if any suspicious character was found and inform if any number less plate motor cycles move in the area especially, Pulsar and Honda Twister vehicles. INN
