State appoints Selection Committee to select APERC chief

Hyderabad, March 6 : The State Government on Wednesday constituted a selection committee for selection of persons for appointment as Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The Selection Committee will be chaired by Former High Court Judge Justice G Krishnamohan Reddy while the Chief Secretary and Chairman of the Central Electricity Authority will be its members.

The Principal Secretary to Government, Energy Department, will be the Convener of the Selection Committee as specified under Sub-Section (2) of Section 4 of the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Reform Act, 1998.

The Selection Committee will finalise the panel of two suitable persons for the post of Chairman in the Commission as per the provisions of the AP Electricity Reform Act, 1998 and the Electricity Act, 2003 and also as per the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (Appointment of Chairman and Members) Rules, 1999 and shall submit to the government that said panel along with the details and information prescribed under sub-section (3) of the Section 5 of the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Reform Act, 1998.
