Hyderabad, March 4 : The State Government on Monday decided to handover the Dilsukhnagar twin blasts case to the National Investigation Agency.
The decision was taken during the review meeting held by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy along with Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, Home Minister P Sabitha Indira Reddy, NIA Deputy Inspector General Dr A Ravi Shankar and other senior officials.
Briefing the media after the review meeting, Sabita Indra Reddy said that the investigation was handed over to the NIA as it could operate at a larger scale compared to the State Police. She said that the NIA’s investigation has been going on a rapid pace and the agency already got some concrete leads. However, she refused to divulge any details on the grounds that it might hamper the investigation.
The Home Minister further assured that measures would be taken to intensify the security across the State, especially the twin cities.
It may be mentioned that the NIA officials have written a letter to the State Government asking it handover the twin blast investigation to the agency. Although the move was reportedly opposed by the State Police officials, the State Government accepted NIA’s request. INN
