TRS demands Rs 300 Cr for Kakatiya festival

Hyderabad, Dec 1 : The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Saturday demanded that the Centre allot Rs 300 crore for the restoration of monuments of Kakatiya dynasty.

A delegation of TRS MLAs comprising Koppala Eshwar, D Vinay Bhaskar, M Bhikshapathy and others also called on Union Tourism Minister K Chiranjeevi in the Legislative Assembly premises in this regard. Talking to reporters later, Bhaskar said that the Tourism Ministry has sanctioned Rs 500 crore in connection with 300 year celebrations of Krishna Devaraya dynasty. They said on the similar lines, the Centre should allot Rs 300 crore for the 850-years celebration of Kakatiya dynasty.

The TRS MLAs also demanded the restoration and renovation of dilapidated temples constructed during the Kakatiya rule. They insisted on continuation of year-long celebrations of Kakatiya festival.

They demanded the release of Postal Stamps commemorating the Kakatiyas elated legacy. They also asked Chiranjeevi to complete the tourist guest house by Tourist Development Corporation. They said that as Kakatiya festival is celebrated in Telangana area, due respect should be given to Telangana sentiments.

Chiranjeevi reportedly assured the TRS delegation that he would look into the demands.
