Hyderabad, October 26 : The City Traffic Police has registered as many as 223 cases against the drunk drivers during the special enforcement drive carried out last weekend.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) CV Anand, as many as 61 cases were booked against the drivers of 4-wheelers, 157 cases against 2-wheeler riders and five cases against auto-rickshaw drivers. During this enforcement drive, a large number of VIPs, their children were checked and some of them tested positive. “It is surprising that even after 10 months of Drunken Driving enforcement, quite a few VIPs are still getting caught in the dragnet,” he said.
Fines between Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 were imposed by the IV Metropolitan Magistrate BC Rayudu and after counseling session, the vehicles were released.
