Hyderabad, Sept 11 (INN): Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to ace tennis player Sania Mirza as a reward on her winning the US Open Mixed Doubles grand slam title.
Sania Mirza called on the Chief Minister at the State Secretariat on Thursday to receive the reward. She thanked KCR for the earlier grant of Rs 1 crore which facilitated her participation in the US open. She informed the Chief Minister that she would be participating in the Japan Open and China Open tournaments to be held soon.
The Chief Minister hoped that Sania Mirza would win titles in both the tournaments. He said her victories would further strengthen the image of Telangana State in the world of sports.
It may mentioned that the State Government had appointed Sania Mirza as the Brand Ambassador of Telangana in July this year and she was also given a grant of Rs 1 crore.
