Hyderabad, Sept 11 (INN): With the continuous efforts and constant monitoring of Andhra Pradesh Government in coordination with the National Disaster Relief Force, Chiefs of the CRPF, and Home Ministry, the first batch of 36 students stranded at Jammu & Kashmir were brought to Delhi on Thursday morning.
AP’s Special Representative Kambhampati Rama Mohan Rao received the students at AP Bhavan in New Delhi and enquired about welfare and the details of the floods and the problems which they faced at Srinagar in the floods.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu had directed Kambhampati and AP Bhavan Commissioner Satish Chandra to monitor the situation to reach out to Telugu people stranded in Jammu & Kashmir. The Government of AP has also opened a round the clock help line center at AP Bhavan to help the Telugu people. So far, more than 200 calls from 45 family members have been received with questions related to the welfare of their kith and kin. Another 60-70 students and pilgrims/ tourists from the State are feared to be stranted in the floods. Kambhampati has assured that the government would take all the possible measure for the safe return of students and pilgrims from the flood affected areas.
Kambhampati also informed that arrangements are being made for the onward transit of 36 students who reached Delhi on Thursday to their respective places.
Rohit, one of the students of NIT who reached Delhi today, told the media that about 74 students from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States were studying in NIT Srinagar. Of them, 36 students have safetly reached Delhi and bout 29 boys and eight girl students are yet to reach.
