Hyderabad, Aug 21 (INN): BJP National President Amit Shah has expressed confidence that his party would emerge as the most dominant political force in Telangana.
Addressing the workers at Imperial Gardens here on Thursday, Amit Shah claimed that Bharaitya Janata Party was the first and only national party which supported statehood for Telangana in 1998. The party continued its support till the formation of Telangana. However, he criticised the then Congress-led UPA Government over the way Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated. He said there were celebrations on both the sides when Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and Uttarakhand States were formed by the BJP-led NDA Government.
Amit Shah urged both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governments to work together in the interest of the nation.
The BJP President recalled the role played by Sardar Vallabhai Patel in the merger of Hyderabad State into Indian Union. He asked the BJP workers to organise Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 at village level.
Stating that the present BJP Government was formed due to northern States, he hoped that the BJP would win majority of seats in the Southern States during next elections. He also asked BJP workers to gear up for the GHMC elections scheduled to be held by this year end.
Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy, Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreyya and other senior leaders also spoke.
