Hyderabad, Aug 19 (INN): Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has claimed that the Intensive Household Survey held across 10 districts of Telangana was a super hit.
Addressing a press conference at his camp office on Tuesday evening, KCR thanked the people for their cooperation in making the survey a grand success. He also praised the employees, students and volunteers who effectively worked as enumerators. Till 6 PM, he said, survey was completed in almost 88 per cent of the households in Hyderabad. Due to extension of time till 10 PM, he hoped that 100 per cent households will be covered in the GHMC limits.
The Chief Minister said that it was found during the survey that there were nearly 20 lakh households in the GHMC limits. Prior to the survey, the figure was estimated at 15.82 lakh. Although the exact figures related to the population and their composition would come out after the analysis, it can be estimated that the city’s population has crossed one crore mark. He said these statistics would help the government in identifying the needs like drinking water and energy for the citizens.
KCR said that the survey findings would help the government in designing relevant schemes for the targeted groups. New ration cards, pensions and other welfare measures would be implemented based on the findings of the survey. He said the survey data would be available to all the officials from the rank of Chief Secretary to Gram Panchayats. He also dismissed the allegations of manipulation of household survey in some areas.
The Chief Minister advised the Chief Ministers of other States to conduct similar surveys which would serve as foundation to extend the benefits of welfare schemes to the real beneficiaries.
