Hyderabad, Aug 14 (INN): Deputy CLP leader in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Thursday alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was not serious in implementing the agricultural loan waiver promise.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here, Shabbir Ali said that instead of waiving off the loans directly, the State Government has issued guidelines for the scheme. He alleged that the government was delaying the loan waiver using bureaucratic tactics. He said that the government was empowered to waive off the loans by directly crediting the amount to the banks. However, KCR has deliberately adopted a long route to keep the issue alive.
Shabbir Ali alleged that several farmers have committed suicide due to the delay in waiving off their loans. However, the government has remained inert on the ongoing suicide spree by the farmers. He said that the Congress party had decided to give 100 days to the government to start fulfilling its promises. Else, it would launch massive agitation across the State.
The Congress leader also slammed KCR for his adamant attitude on the issue of EAMCET counselling which got delayed by almost one month. He said KCR should have resolved the issue by convening an all-party meeting.
