Hyderabad, Aug 10 (INN): Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali on Sunday announced that the Telangana Government was gearing up to counter the Centre’s decision to delegate special powers to Governor in the joint capital of Greater Hyderabad.
Speaking to media persons here, Mahmood Ali said that the Centre was trying to encroach upon the rights of Telangana State by delegating Law and Order powers in Hyderabad to the Governor. He said that the State Government would contest against this discrimination in a court of law, if required. He demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw the decision immediately.
With regard to the Comprehensive Household Survey to be conducted on August 19, Mahmood Ali said that the survey would not only help the government in getting accurate statistics, it would also expose the irregularities committed by the previous governments. He said the government would take stern action against the officials if they are found guilty of tampering with the figures and indulged in other irregularities. He appealed to the people to cooperate with the officials in conducting the survey.
The Deputy Chief Minister also assured that the benefits of “Kalyana Lakshni” scheme would be extended to the minorities wherein the government would pay Rs 50,000 for the marriage of poor girls.
