No hidden agenda behind survey: Etela

Hyderabad, Aug 10 (INN): “The purpose of Telangana nativity survey to be held on August 19 is to know where we stand as we form a new government, so that we can plan better to achieve Bangaru Telangana. Opposition is creating confusion and misleading people. There are no other intensions,” said Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender said on Sunday.

He was addressing the gathering of Practicing Company Secretaries and Students at Hotel Lemon Tree at Madhapur here on Sunday. He was the Chief Guest at 40th Foundation Day Celebrations of ICSI Hyderabad Chapter, which of one the most dynamic chapters among 69 Chapters across India. The 40th Foundation Day Celebrations organised at the end of the two day Regional Conference of ICSI South on Embracing Excellence.

“Your investments in Telangana State are safe. You don’t have to worry. I am giving you this assurance. To build the Bangaru Telangana what we dreamt, we need lot of investments into the state. More and more new industries must come. Company Secretaries show the way to investors. You are guides to the companies/corporate,” Etela said.

Etela was speaking about the theme” Role of Company Secretaries in Corporate Growth and Economic Development of the State”. The theme he said is apt and extremely topical. The timing is so apt and just right with the new enactment of Companies Act 2013 and more so the formation of new state. Company Secretaries are a key managerial personnel as per the new Companies Act 2013 and an emerging leader in the corporate world, he said.

“I strongly fee that Company Secretaries can play a significant role of garnering investments being a vital link to stakeholders’s, i.e., promoters, venture capital firms, private equity firms, Angel Investors, Government Agencies. And can add value to the development and growth of industry and economy of the state and country,” he said.

As corporate professionals, you are all having continued interface with various Regulators and stakeholders who expect performance from the corporate sector. You are a Governance professionals,” he said. You are the guardians of the interests of various stakeholders, he added.

Speaking further, Etela said business without ethics was not a business. Ethics are most important in business. Similarly we must have tension free working life, he said. That is the best environment Telangana Government is looking forward to offer to the state, he said.

He also gave away awards to the meritorious students.

Specila Chief Secretary Pradeep Chandra also graced the occasion. He said, more women must get into corporate and trade bodies. I see lesser women here. We will see to it that the women will be given more role in the New Industrial Policy of Telangana State drafing currently he said.

Vasudeva Rao Devaki, President of Hyderabad Chapter who spoke on the occasion informed that the proposed Center for Excellence at Uppal will commence its construction this month. Also ICSI Hyderabad Chapter will have its new building at Anandnagar Colony in the city. The construction of the same will also commence very soon he said. The Hyderabad Chapter is the most vibrant Chapters among 69 Chapters of ICSI situated all across India he said.

Further, he added that the Chapter has been the best Chapter for the past 12 years. Two of its members went on to become National President of this prestige organization ICSI, which is a matter of great pride he informed.

Central Council Member of the ICSI Sudhir Babu and AV Rao, Treasurer of the Hyderabad Chapter who spoke urged the Minister to seek services of Company Secretaries for the State owned Corporations. All these corporations are loss making. The New Companies Act 2013 which was enacted this year also suggests this. Karnataka State Government seeks services of the Company Secretaries. Most of these bodies are profit making there, they informed.

As many as 150 Company Secretaries participated in the two day program.
