Hyderabad, Aug 9 (INN): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Saturday claimed that his party was revival mode.
Speaking to media persons after participating in the Quit India Movement anniversary celebrations at Gandhi Bhavan here, Ponnala said that the Congress cadre was still active across Telangana and has been gearing up to launch agitation against the failures of State and Central Governments. He admitted that the Congress party has failed to capatalise on the fact that Congress President Sonia Gandhi took a decision in favour of Telangana despite having reports that it would be washed out in Seemandhra region. He said that the Congress Government implemented several welfare schemes during its 10 year rule benefitting lakhs of people. However, he said those achievements were not properly conveyed to the people during election campaign.
Ponnala said that the Congress would the role of an active opposition party. He said that the ongoing district-wise reviews on party’s performance has brought positive results and also highlighted the weaknesses. He said that the party would be strengthened at grassroots levels by weeding out the weaknesses.
