Hyderabad, June 25 : GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain informed that from now onwards, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will dispose the unknown dead bodies without involving any NGOs.
During a review meeting with GHMC floor leaders Nazeeruddin (MIM) and Singireddy Srinivas Reddy (TDP) and senior officials, the Mayor directed the concerned officials to dispose the unknown dead bodies weekly once from Gandhi and Osmania hospitals. He directed the officials to keep Rs. 10 lakh as caution deposit with the Zonal Commissioners (North & South) to take material for the burial of unknown bodies.
The officials have requested the Mayor to allocate funds to take up embalming process to protect the dead bodies from decomposition. He instructed the officials to write letters to the managements of Gandhi and Osmania Hospitals seeking permission for the GHMC staff to take up anti larva and fogging operations in the hospitals. The Mayor informed that he would be writing a letter to the Health Secretary to maintain the air condition chambers in the Mortuaries of Gandhi and Osmania General Hospitals.
The Mayor directed the Chief Engineer to furnish the list of Edgahs and also instructed the Additional Commissioner (H&S) to look after sanitation maintenance in and around the Edgahs. He further directed to take out the garbage bins from Edgahs. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to list out the grave yards of their jurisdiction to take up maintenance irrespective religions. He further directed to take proposals from concerned Corporators also in this regard.
Majid Hussain appealed to the citizens to send the photographs of the vehicle, which is dumping debris on roads to the GHMC officials, so that GHMC can book criminal cases against the culprits.
