Hyderabad, June 24 : Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday informed that steps were being taken at a large scale to ensure rain water harvesting.
Speaking to media persons after participating in the review meeting held by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at the State Secretariat here, Harish Rao said that the District Collectors have been asked to ensure that rain water does not go waste. He said old and defunct lakes would be cleaned and restored to increase their storage capacity in view of monsoon season. He said proper harvesting of rain water would help in increasing the ground water levels which would eventually help the farmers of Telangana.
Further, Harish Rao said that the Collectors have also been asked to make proper arrangements for evacuation of excess rain water from the fields during monsoon. INN
