Hyderabad, June 24 : GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain on Tuesday directed Commissioner Somesh Kumar to concentrate on lifting of garbage near mosques during Ramzan season. He also directed the Health and Sanitation officials to provide polythene bags for garbage collection at the Mosques.
The Mayor informed the Corporators that GHMC would be taking up special drive of debris lifting for 10 days by making 5 daily trips. The corporation will not pay to the contractor, if the local Corporator does not give a satisfactory certificate on debris lifting work undertaken in the concerned ward. He also informed the Corporators to send their proposals regarding Ramzan arrangements to the concerned Zonal Commissioner immediately.
Meanwhile, Somesh Kumar directed the concerned officials that approach roads to the Mosques should be in proper conditions and street lights must be glowing since the Muslim go very early and late in the nights to the Mosque in these days. He further directed the Zonal Commissioners to make special arrangements for garbage lifting in and around the Mosques. He requested the Corproators to put up the proposals for long term and short term works so that the works can be taken up on priority.
The GHMC is spending Rs 164 crores towards electricity charges, Rs. 12 crores for labour and Rs. 12 crores on the material every year. The Commissioner directed the Additional Commissioner (Electrical) to verify each and electrical pole in view of ensuing rainy season in order to avoid the probable accidents.
Standing Committee Members, Floor Leaders Singireddy Srinivas Reddy, Diddi Rambabu and Mohd. Nazeeruddin, 75 Corporators, GHMC Special Commissioner Rahul Bojja, and other senior officials participated in the meeting. INN
