Hyderabad, June 23 : Avanigadda TDP MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad was unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly here on Monday.
As soon as the House met on Monday, Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao announced the unanimous election of Buddha Prasad as the Deputy Speaker. He was later escorted to the chair by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Leader of the Opposition Jagan Mohan Reddy, Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and other floor leaders.
Later, the Chief Minister and other leaders congratulated Buddha Prasad on his election and hoped that he would set new precedents in running the House.
Buddha Prasad was elected as MLA from Avanigadda constituency of Krishna district for three terms during 1999, 2004 and 2014. He had also served as the Chairman of Official Language Commission and played a key role in the implementation of Telugu as official language in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. INN
