GHMC pays tributes to T-martyrs

Hyderabad, June 21 : The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Saturday paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Telangana.

The condolence resolutions were passed immediately after the beginning of GHMC General Body meeting on Saturday. While Singireddy Srinivas Reddy (TDP) and D Ram Babu (Congress) proposed resolutions for Telangana martyrs, MIM floor leader Md Nazeeruddin moved a condolence resolution for the students killed in Beas River tragedy. Similarly, BJP floor leader Bangari Prakash proposed a resolution to condole the death of former Union Minister Gopinath Munde in a road accident. S Babu of TRS moved a resolution to pay tributes to Telangana protagonist Prof Jaya Shankar.

The joint condolence resolution was then moved by Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain and was unanimously passed by the GHMC general body. The members also observed two-minute silence as a mark of respect.

Earlier, the TRS corporators have also demanded installation of statues of Prof Jaya Shankar at prominent locations in the GHMC area.  INN
