Hyderabad, June 20 : The Telangana Government is planning to formulate an industrial policy in which there will be participation of people from all sections of the society.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that the Telangana state industrial policy should be the best and attract national and global companies.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting with special Chief Secretary Pradeep Chandra and other senior officials on the industrial sector in the State Secretariat on Friday. The discussion focused on the modalities of industrial policy in the state. KCR said that the deficiencies in provision of infrastructural facilities should be identified and addressed. He also suggested that there has to be a single window clearance system through which industrial clearances on various aspects should be made easy and accordingly rules and regulations are to be framed. He said that the industrial policy should encourage the industrialists towards this end.
KCR suggested that a special chasing cell be established in the Chief Minister’s Office. He also suggested that the abundant resources of Telangana should be properly utilized thereby establishing pollution free industrial habitations. The main objective of the new industrial policy will be to enhance the job opportunities in the State, he said.
The Chief Minister has instructed officials to study the aspects of the type of industries that could be established in the State in the next four to five years. The officials should assess both, the opportunities and threats. He also stressed upon meeting the energy requirements in the State. He said that the lands which are not useful for farming should be identified for establishment of industries.
KCR also directed the officials to rename the APIIC as the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructural Corporation (TSIIC).
The Chief Minister suggested that the industrial policy should aim at encouraging women entrepreneurs belonging to SC, ST, BC and Minorities. He said Textile Parks should be established in Warangal and Sircilla. Lands belonging to Ajam Jahi mills should be utilized for the development of Textile Park and if necessary, more land may be acquired, the Chief Minister Suggested.
The Telangana Textile Park should be established on the lines of Tamil Nadu’s Tirupur. The Chief Minister said that all facilities were available to establish the Textile Park in Warangal and the Kazipet Railway Station is an added advantage.
The Chief Minister has also decided to hold another meeting shortly to finalize the industrial policy. He said that industrialists, entrepreneurs and their representative bodies would be invited for discussions while formulating the new policy. INN
