New Delhi, June 18 : Dr Shivram Krishna Committee, which has been assigned the task of identifying the location for new capital of residuary State of Andhra Pradesh, called on Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu at Nirman Bhavan here on Wednesday.
The committee made a presentation to Venkaiah Naidu about the outcome of the studies they have made till now and also discussed his views on the prospective capital for Andhra Pradesh. The Committee urged upon the minister that any new capital will require massive transportation network like Roads, BRTS, Metro Rail network within the city and link road to other part of the state.
The committee urged upon the minister to extend all round support not only from Urban Development ministry, but also from other ministries like Railway, Surface Transport, Petroleum and Natural Gas etc
Venkaiah Naidu expressed his complete support for all the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act and other promises made by the then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on the floor of the house. He also expressed that State has to be quick in sending specific detailed proposals on each item, so that it can be taken up by various ministries at the Centre. INN
