Visakhapatnam, June 15 : Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday stressed the need for effective coordination between Telangana and residuary Andhra Pradesh for the fast development of both Telugu speaking State.
Interacting with walkers along with local MLP K Haribabu on RK Beach here, Venkaiah Naidu said that the main agenda for both the States should be development and politics should take a back seat. He said despite bifurcation, the interests and concerns of Telugu speaking people were same. He said the governments of both the States should consult each other on contentious issues instead of having confrontation.
Venkaiah Naidu assured that the Centre would extend all assistance to the residuary Andhra Pradesh in the construction of new capital. He also assured that the periodicity of special category status for Andhra Pradesh would be extended by the BJP-led NDA Government.
Speaking about Polavaram Project issue, Venkaiah Naidu said that the ordinance issued by the Centre could not be revoked. He maintained that the ordinance, merging seven mandals of Khammam district with Seemandhra, was prepared by the previous UPA regime and the BJP Government only released it. He also said that the Polavaram Project, which has already been accorded the status of national project, would be completed at the earliest. INN
