Hyderabad, June 15 : Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy on Sunday urged the TRS Government to implement the promise of waiving off crop loans.
Addressing a press conference here, Kishan Reddy said that the Khariff season has arrived and farmers were worried over the delay in waiving off of their farm loans. He said that the banks would not sanction new loans, unless the old loans are settled. Therefore, he demanded that the State Government should take immediate steps in this regard to provide relief to the farmers. He also asked government to provide better quality seeds to the farmers.
Kishan Reddy also asked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to clarify how he proposed to resolve the energy crisis. Referring to the claims that Telangana would be power surplus state in the next three years, he asked the State Government to make a detailed statement in this connection.
Speaking about Polavaram project issue, Kishan Reddy said that ordinance merging seven mandals of Khammam district with residuary Andhra Pradesh was prepared by the previous UPA regime and the BJP Government only issued it. Therefore, he said it was wrong to blame the BJP Government on the issue.
Accusing the TRS of trying to adopt a confrontation attitude against the Centre, Kishan Reddy criticised the State Government’s promise of providing 12% reservation to Muslims. He said that 4% Muslim reservation case was still pending in the Supreme Court and now the TRS Government was proposing 12% quota. He said that the BJP was against reservation on the basis of religion. However, he said that the party was not against reservation for poor Muslims. INN
