Hyderabad, June 11 : Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday instructed the officials of the Roads and Buildings department to explore feasibility to construct elevated express highway link from Hyderabad city to the state highway Rajiv Rahadari from Hyderabad – Ramagundam on par with national highways on a war footing to reduce road accidents and loss of lives.
Reviewing the functioning of the Road and Buildings department with senior officials, the Chief Minister asked them to prepare a master plan on such elevated express highway flyovers on the lines of P.V.Narasimha Rao Express Highway from the State capital to all State and National Highways. He wanted them to immediately take up provision of service roads, remove dangerous road bends and also create additional bypasses and flyovers on the Rajiv Rahadari for free flow of heavy duty traffic. He directed the officials to prepare list of all ongoing road works along with cost estimate with an action plan to complete them in a time bound program. He also asked the officials to prepare a road map to convert the existing 20,000 kms Panchayat Raj roads into four lanes to district Headquarters and two lane roads to Mandal Headquarters.
According to officials 1,672 kms have to be made four lanes and 7,287 kms have to be made into double lanes.
The chief minister wanted the officials to examine the feasibility of laying another ring of ORR (Outer Ring Roads) within radius of 60 kms or 100 kms of Hyderabad and to promote satellite townships and mass transportation systems for Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar districts etc., to reduce impact of high population density on the state capital. With regard to existing defunct State Guest Houses in Telangana state, KCR directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive plan to restore them for all official purposes.
Chandrasekhar Rao asked the officials to work out a comprehensive plan for staff pattern for the R&B Department and prepare lists of staff requirement for smooth functioning and completion of all works.
