High power committee reviews city’s integrated traffic management system

Hyderabad, June 11 : The Steering Committee on Hyderabad Traffic Integrated Management Systems (HTRIMS) on Wednesday reviewed different projects in the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

The Committee’s meeting chaired by GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, was attended by Cyberabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jitender, representatives of M/s BEL project and Project Manager, ASCI, and other senior officials. The Committee has reviewed about sanctioned signal works at 221 junctions-157 in Hyderabad and 64 in Cyberabad area. It has been noticed that about 207 signals have been erected by M/s BEL, Bangalore, so far and balance is set to complete in one month time. The Committee expressed concern over the delay by M/s BEL as the project was scheduled to be completed by August 2013.

The Committee stressed on the need for setting timers on traffic signals in the city for the convenience of traffic. It has permitted the agency to procure Timers and complete the work before September this year. It also felt the need for additional Traffic signals.

The Committee also reviewed the replaced of cameras on traffic signal posts from black & white to Colour cameras. It permitted the installation of more VMS (Variable Message Signages) boards across the city. It also took a few more important decisions during its meeting.  INN
