Hyderabad, June 11 : Deputy Chief Minister Dr T Rajaiah on Wednesday announced that the counselling for admission into the MBBS course would begin from June 25.
Addressing a press conference here, Rajaiah, who also hold the portfolio of Medical and Health, said that the 85 per cent seats in all medical colleges of Telangana would be reserved for locals and the rest for non-locals. The fee in government colleges will be Rs 10,000 and the University Fee will be Rs 3,000. Under Category – I (EAMCET quota), 50% of admissions will be done on EAMCET ranking. The fee for Category – A covering 50% of seats will be Rs 60,000. For Category (10% Convener quota) the fee will be Rs 2.5 lakh. Similarly, for 25% management and 15% NRIs quotas, the fee will be Rs 5.50 lakh.
In all three minority medical colleges, 60% seats will be reserved for Muslim candidates. For 25% seats under Category B1 and 15% Category B2 (NRIs) seats, the fee will be Rs 6 lakh. Giving 70% seats to Muslim candidates in NRI quota will be compulsory.
Rajaiah informed that there are 850 seats in five government colleges. The Telangana Government has requested the Medical Council of India increase 200 more seats and assured to provide the required infrastructure. There are 1700 seats in 12 private medical colleges and 400 seats in three minority medical colleges. Therefore, the total number of medical seats in Telangana is 2,950.
There are 511 PG medical seats in Telangana which includes 106 seats in Kakatiya Medical Colleges, 127 in Gandhi Medical College and 278 seats in Osmania Medical College. The MCI has been asked to increase 68 more seats in addition to the seven seats which have been increased recently. There are 17 Super Specialty seats in Gandhi and 45 in Osmania Medical College. The government has requested for increase of 10 more seats in Osmania Medical College.
Rajaiah said that the admission process for PG courses would be completed by July 10. The fee will be decided by the Admission Regulatory Committee. He said one year service in rural areas will be compulsory for the PG students.
He warned the private medical colleges against conducting separate entrances test.
The Deputy CM said that the government would implement the promises made by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the party’s manifesto. He said one super-specialty hospital would be established in all the districts and the medical infrastructures and facilities would be improved in all the public hospitals. He said a cluster hospital would be formed based on 4-5 PHCs. He said a Health University would be established near Ghatkesar on 100-acres of land. The areas near Outer Ring Road would be developed as hub for medical tourism. INN
