Rs 20,000 fine for throwing garbage on road

Hyderabad, June 10 : GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar on Tuesday directed the AMOH of Circle-8 to collect Rs 20,000/- as penalty from the fruit merchants who are throwing garbage and waste material on the main road at Jambagh.

The Commissioner made a surprise inspection from Chandrayangutta to Jambagh, via Owaisi Hospital, Falaknuma, Charminar, Afzal Gunj, Mozamjahi Market and Nampally in order to review the sanitation arrangements. While on inspection, the Commissioner expressed anger over the field staff of sanitation department for allowing various merchants to throw their wastage on main roads. He further warned that action would be initiated against the officials for their negligence while performing their duties.

Somesh Kumar also inspected the nala desilting works at Banjara lake, Road No. 10, Banjara Hills and directed the Engineering (Project) wing to come with a proposal for protection of nala and safety of the citizens as the nala is surrounded by the families. The team has also inspected the proposed site for construction of bridge between Gowrishanker Nagar and Road No.12, Banjara Hills.

Additional Commissioner (Planning) P Venkata Rami Reddy, Central Zone Commissioner D Ronald Rose, South Zone Commissioner Balasubrahmanyam Reddy, Engineer-in-Chief Dhan Singh, Additional Commissioner (H&S) N Ravi Kiran and other officials participated in the inspection.  INN
