Hyderabad, June 5 : Kodangal MLA and TDP senior leader Revanth Reddy on Thursday strongly opposed the proposed trifurcation of Mahabubnagar district.
Speaking to media persons after making a representation to Telangana Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma here, Revanth Reddy said that the TRS Government was planning to divide Mahabubnagar into three parts to create more districts. He said it has been proposed to create Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool and Mahabubnagar districts. The present Mahabubnagar district has 14 Assembly and two Lok Sabha segments. In case of trifurcation, the Mahabubnagar MP would have to deal with three SPs and three Collectors to resolve the issues pertaining to his constituency, he said.
Revanth Reddy said that the creation of new districts should be practical. He said instead of proposed 23 districts, the government could create 17 districts based on the boundaries of 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in the region.
The TDP leader also demanded that the TRS Government restrain from adding riders to the crop loan waiver scheme. He said it was unfair on the part of the government to say that loans taken only during 2013-14 would be waived off. As promised, the TRS Government should waive off farm loans up to Rs 1 lakh for all the farmers in Telangana, he said. INN
