Hyderabad, June 1 (INN): Telangana, the 29th State of India, came into existence at Sunday midnight.
The birth of the new State was celebrated by thousands of people who gathered on streets across 10 districts of Telangana. Amid slogans of “Jai Telangana”, people paid huge tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives demanding statehood for the region in the last six decades. Mass celebrations were organised at Necklace Road, Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park, historic Charminar, Telangana Bhavan, Gandhi Bhavan and other places. All prominent buildings were illuminated to mark the birthday of Telangana.
Spectacular fireworks were organised across at different places, especially at Necklace Road. The famous song “Jaya Jayahe Telangana” written by the renowned lyricist Ande Sri was played at 150 odd places across Hyderabad during the midnight celebrations. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which spearheaded the statehood movement, has painted the State capital pink. Large cut outs of the TRS chief and Chief Minister designate Kalvakuntala Chandrasekhara Rao have been installed at all important junctions.
The TRS workers also distributed sweets and biriyani packets among hundreds of people who gathered for the midnight celebrations.
