Mayor promises 24 stadiums in GHMC limits

Hyderabad, May 22 : GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain said that Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was committed to establish a stadium and a swimming pool in each of the 24 Assembly constituencies in the GHMC jurisdiction.

The Mayor has formally inaugurated the GHMC summer coaching camps- 2014 at Victory Play Ground, Chaderghat here on Thursday. He said that the regular Summer Coaching Camps this year has been delayed due to election model code of conduct and the camp inaugurated today will run up to June 10.

Speaking at the inaugural function, the Mayor urged the young sportsmen to utilize the facilities being provided by the GHMC wherein experienced coaches of State Sports Associations will impart coaching to young boys and girls. He said that the GHMC was committed to make the Hyderabad City a Sports Hub.

In his presidential address, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar praised the coaches for their efforts in training the young boys and girls. He said this year the GHMC has introduced “Mini Foot Ball” apart from regular Coaching Camps in 54 Games. He said that this year the GHMC is spending around Rs. 80 lakhs for summer coaching camps and Rs. 31 crores have been allocated for over all development of infrastructure for sports activities in GHMC.

He further informed that in order to benefit Players GHMC has introduced a scholarship scheme of Rs.5000/- Rs.2000/- Rs.1000/- for the players of GHMC who have represented in the International Tournaments, National Championship and State level events, respectively organized by respective Sports Associations.

Deputy Mayor G Rajkumar, Congress floor leader Diddi Rambabu, Corporators Wajid Hussain, P Gyaneshwar Goud, J Hemalatha and others were present. Over 3000 children from all Zones of GHMC participated in the inaugural March Past.  INN
