Hyderabad, April 1 : Governor ESL Narasimhan on Tuesday directed the Prl. Secretary (Home) to assess the requirement of additional forces in the wake of the state bifurcation as the division will diminish available resource pool of existing police battalions.
He also asked the officials to rise to the occasion to meet the challenges like the growing concern on women’s safety and the security needs of IT industry in Cyberabad area.
The Prl. Secretary (Home) TP Das, gave a presentation to the Governor and the Advisor to Governor A.N. Roy on the reorganization of police force and allied organizations under the provisions of the AP Reorganization Act.
He said, the Central Government would take up the maintenance and administration of the existing Grey Hounds training centre for a period of 3 years from 2nd June, 2014 and a similar state-of-the-art training centre would be set up in the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh.
A specific time frame was set to take up and complete different key activities in a fair and transparent manner, he stated. Digitalization and photocopying of files and records inventory of movable and immovable assets would be completed by April 30, he added.
He has proposed tentative sharing of the existing office space available for DGP, Intelligence, CID and APSP by both the successive states and exact details of allocation would be worked out separately.
Detailing on the reorganization of APSP, the Prl. Secretary said it plays a crucial role in maintenance of law and order and providing security to vital installations, establishments and to VVIPs.
The committee also proposed to include Grey Hounds, Octopus, Special Intelligence Bureau, Counter intelligence, State Crime Records Bureau, Finger Prints Bureau; SPF training centre and other services in the Schedule X of the State Reorganization Act.
The Prl. Secretary said the AP State Police Housing Corporation Limited should continue to function even after the appointed day and the assets and liabilities of the APSPHCL shall be apportioned between the two successor states.
The AP Police Academy, the AP Forensic Science Laboratory, AP Fire Service and Civil Defence Training institute and other institutions under Schedule X will continue to provide the same facilities as may be agreed upon between the two state governments within a period of one year, he said.
Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty, DGP B Prasada Rao, senior police officers JV Ramudu, M. Mahender Reddy and others attended the meeting. INN
