TUWJ office bearers oppose new union with same name

Hyderabad, March 5 : Telangana Union of Working Journalists has criticised the attempts of a group of journalists to form a separate Union in the event of bifurcation of the Andhra Pradesh State in the name and title of Telangana Union of Working Journalists.

The Office bearers of the Telangana Union of Working Journalists including Working President Shoukat Ali Sufi, General Secretary Hadi Raheel, Secretary Hassan Irfan, Dr Gulam Abbas Khan and Ahmed Mukesh, in a press release, said that the present union was established in 1964 and since then the union has been active. It was registered in the Labour Department and under the Societies Act.

They said that the Union has been organising Press Meet Programmes on various occasions which were attended by eminent leaders of the state. Press fraternity which participated in various programmes organised by the union are well aware of its activities. In spite of this, it is strange that how some people have chosen to name their union in the existing union. This is an unfair exercise and they should choose a different name for their union, they suggested.  INN
