Hyderabad, Feb 19 : GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar directed the GHMC Engineer-in-Chief and Chief Engineer to expedite the works of Construction of Grade Separator i.e. Flyover at Tolichowki Junction on priority and also to take up the service road work from Mehidipatnam to Towlichowki junction immediately.
The Commissioner, along with Karwan MLA Afsar Khan and other senior officials, inspected the works pertaining to the construction of Towlichowki flyover today as per the request of the MLA and interacted with the MLA pertaining to various civic related issues in his constituency.
Somesh Kumar said that the existing Towlichowki junction causing regular traffic jams. The construction of Grade Separator i.e., flyover will ease the congestion at Towlichowki junction and will reduce travel time for traffic from Mehdipatnam to Gachibowli and Hi-tech City and vice versa. Further, the Grade Separator is proposed as the road from Tolichowki to Gachibowli is proposed to develop as Expressway. Further the Commissioner instructed MLA to negotiate with temple committee to remove the out side wall till the work is completed. So that it can be reconstructed in the same place. The MLA ensured Commissioner to discuss with committee members.
The Commissioner further stated that the flyover at Towlichowki junction will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 43.78 crores including project cost of Rs. 38.78 crores + land acquisition and utilities around Rs. 5 crores. Nearly 50 properties are affecting and the length of flyover will be around 650.00m.
Somesh Kumar also visited Quli Qutub Shah Tombs, Katora House and interacted with the Architects of the Heritage consultancy and directed them to prepare a plan of action to take up the repairing works without effecting the monuments and also to safeguard these heritage properties. The Commissioner later on visited Owaisi Play ground at Golkonda and directed the officials to put up the proposals for construction of swimming pool.
