New Delhi, Feb 18 : MIM President and Hyderabad MP strongly objected to the handing over of law and order to Governor in the new state of Telangana.
Speaking to media persons after the Lok Sabha passed the Telangana Bill on Tuesday, Asaduddin Owaisi said that the MIM had proposed several amendments to the Bill, but they were not carried out. He said that the law and order was a State-subject and it would be unconstitutional to handover the law and order of GHMC area, the joint capital, to the Governor after bifurcation. He said that the MIM had been consistently saying that there would be no compromise on the status of Hyderabad, which it said should be the capital of Telangana only.
The MIM chief said that he would be approaching the Supreme Court against the clause in the Bill that gives law and order subject to the Governor. He also condemned the stopping of live telecast of the Lok Sabha proceedings while the Bill was being passed. He said the telecast was stopped although there was no external threat or no internal emergency. INN
