New Delhi, Jan 30 : AICC General Secretary and Incharge of AP Congress Affairs Digvijay Singh on Thursday contended that the Andhra Pradesh Assembly did not vote on the State Reorganisation Bill.
Speaking to media persons here, Digvijay Singh said that the Bill was not put to voting and only a resolution moved by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was passed through voice vote. He said that the resolution would have no impact on the process of formation of Telangana which would be carried out by the Centre under Article 3 of the Constitution.
Digvijay Singh expressed satisfaction one of the most important process of taking Assembly’s views on the Bill had been completed. He said now the Bill would be introduced in the Parliament after taking the nod of Union Cabinet. He said that the Union cabinet would review the proposed amendments and final draft would be tabled in the Parliament.
He also hinted that no action would be taken against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy or any other leader who spoke against the decision of the Congress High Command on Telangana issue. He said that since the bifurcation issue was contentious and sensitive, the Congress leaders were given freedom to express their views. INN
