Ponnam denies making provocative statement

Karimnagar, Jan 5 : Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday claimed that his statement was quoted out of context by the media and he never made any provocative comments agaisnt any individual.

Speaking to media persons here, Ponnam strongly reacted to the cases registered against by the police for allegedly stating that he would shoot down the helicopter if he visited Karimnagar district. Stating that the cases were registered following pressure of Seemandhra leaders, he said that he never threatened to eliminate anyone. He said he made the statement only to convey the anger of the Telangana people.

Ponnam said that although police was quick to register case agaisnt him, but it spared TDP leader Nannapaneni Rajkumari when she threatened to commit suicide by jumping from the Assembly building. Even no case was registered against Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy who had reportedly called Telangana ministers as conspirators. INN
