Hyderabad, Dec 2 : The South Central Railway on Monday said that instances have come to notice that some passengers were resorting to performing ‘Aarti’ by burning camphor and also lighting incense sticks etc., inside the coaches of trains, especially in those trains bound towards South.
In this connection, the passengers have been advised to desist from such practices in the Coaches of train or at railway premises since carrying fire inciting and inflammable materials in trains or Railway premises is strictly prohibited as it may result in fire hazards endangering human lives and railway property.
Such practices constitute a punishable offence under section 67, 154, 164, and 165 of The Railways Act-1989, where the offender may get an imprisonment up to three years or a fine of Rs. 1000 or both, besides being liable for the loss / injury or damage cause.
The SCR launched a special drive duly involving the staff from Railway Protection Force and Commercial branches to conduct checks to prevent such practices in the interest of safety. INN
