Singireddy appeals eligible voters to enroll their names

Hyderabad, Nov 30 : TDP floor leader in GHMC Singireddy Srinivas Reddy on Saturday appealed to all eligible voters to register their name, corrections (if any) in their particulars, transpositions, additions and deletions, etc., in the electoral list.

A special drive is undertaken by the Election Commissioner of India by establishing counters in certain designated centres on December 1 (Sunday) in view of vigorous exercise to identify all eligible voters attaining the age of 18 years as on January one every year in each fo the 8.5 lakh polling stations in the country. Singireddy requested the eligible citizens to avail the opportunity and gain the entitlement of right to vote.

“Some political activists may take undue advantage of this facility, by registering fake names in bulk with bogus addresses to cram their vote bank. This not only distorts and contaminates the electoral rolls but also paves way for the fraudulent politicians to occupy the prestigious posts by indulge in riggings, to rule the Government,” he feared adding that such a practice would lead to mal-function of the total system of the country.

He also expressed concern on non-participation of eligible voters into polling. “The statistical records reflects that the Indians are very reluctant to franchise their valuable vote while electing the political dignitaries and to abstain themselves from polling, which is as low as 20 per cent to 25 per cent in certain classes,” he said.

Various forms including Form 6, Form 7, Form 8, Form 8-A, etc., pertaining to inclusion of new names, deletions, corrections, transpositions within the constituency respectively, are made available in the designated centres in the localities on Sunday. INN
