I’m not a permanent CM, says Kiran

Kadapa, Nov 25: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy appears to be in no mood to celebrate the completion of his three years in office.

Addressing a public meeting at Rayachoti here on Monday as part of Rachabanda programme, Kiran Kumar Reddy indicated that he might continue on the post for long. “I’m the 16th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Many more will come after me. They are lot of people in the queue. Post is not important, but the State is important and it will remain forever,” he said while announcing that he was against the decision of the Congress party to divide Andhra Pradesh.

Kiran Kumar Reddy said that Congress party alone could not be blamed for the bifurcation decision. He said that the Telugu Desam Party gave in writing to the Centre that it was in favour of Telangana while the YSR Congress party asked the Centre to divide the State under Article 3 of the Constitution. He reiterated that all regions of the State would suffer due to the division.

Speaking about his three-year term in office, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that he faced several challenges at every steps. There were massive agitations in Telangana and Seemandhra regions. While one part of the State was affected with drought, another suffered due to heavy rains and cyclones. “We have faced three cyclones in the recent past and now gearing up to face the fourth cyclone,” he said.

Listing out the schemes launched or being implemented by his government, the Chief Minister said that several schemes like Jala Yagnam need more time for completion. Citing instances, he said Nagarjuna Sagar took more than decades for completion. However, he said such long-term projects have been prioritised. He also listed out other schemes being implemented by his government for the welfare of different sections of the society.

The Chief Minister also promised to solve the drinking water problem in Rayachoti and other areas of Kadapa district. He also announced a 100-bedded hospital for Rayachoti and said he would consider the requests for new sub-stations, roads and other infrastructure in the Rayachoti Assembly segment. On Monday, he laid foundation for developmental projects worth Rs 97 crore.

State Ministers, Congress legislators and senior officials of Kadapa district were present on the occasion.
