CM exhorts students to work sincerely to achieve goals

Hyderabad, Nov 22 : Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy exhorted the students to work sincerely to achieve their goals.

“We have to face many difficulties and hardships in our life, family and society. But we have to face them with courage and self confidence. We should be true to conscience. We have to set a goal for ourselves and strive hard to achieve the goal. We cannot achieve success if we change our goals frequently. Success will be possible only if we strive for it in a disciplined manner.” the Chief Minister said. Every game has its own distinctions. Victory depends on your outlook. Do not get disappointed even if you fail. Make all out efforts to succeed, he said.

The Chief Minister congratulated the children and their guides for their endurance and brilliant performance and wished them good luck for their proposed expedition to Mt.Everest. Students of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Schools met the Chief Minister at the Secretariat on Friday. The students propose to climb Mt.Everest, the highest peak in the world during April to May 2014.

The children of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Schools will be the youngest school team to scale Mt. Everest. Kumari Poorna (14 years) will be the youngest girl in the world to scale Mount Everest. These children will be the first Dalits to set their foot on the world’s highest peak. This rare feat would not only prove the potential of these children, but also would be a game changer in the path of development of Dalits in India.

The organisers thanked the Chief Minister and said the transformation came only after Kiran Kumar Reddy brought the turnaround in welfare sector of AP with the historic SC Sub Plan Act 2013. They also thanked the Social Welfare Minister Shri Pithani Sathyanarayana and Sri Raymond Peter for constantly monitoring the programme.

It all began with a batch of 108 students of AP Social Welfare residential schools (from 9th & 11th classes) from all over the state being selected and sent to rock climbing course at Bhongir, Nalgonda district. During the course, with AP Social Welfare school students’ endurance and brilliant performance impressed the management to send the best twenty for higher altitudes in Himalayas with the help of Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling. The institute run by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India was founded in 1954 by Tenzing Norgay after he became the first person to climb Mount Everest.

During the course at HMI, leaving everyone awestruck and creating new history the students reached up to 17,000ft (the summit of Mt.Renock) in Himalayas (Mt. Kanchanjunga Range, West Sikkim) after learning Ice and Snow climbing techniques at the height of 14,500ft for 7 days. During the training in Himalayas they had to face extreme weather condition of -300C.

It is proposed to train ‘A’ grade achievers (at HMI), physically for a month and send to Mt. Aconcagua (6962mt / 22841ft) in Argentina for testing changes in their body and behavior at the altitude beyond 22,000ft, as it is not possible to take to that height in Indian Himalayas during winter. The successful team from this expedition will be trained again in Hyderabad for three months with various skills and fitness regimen and propose to climb Mt.Everest (8848mt / 29035ft), the highest peak in the world during April to May 2014.

The Rock Climbing School, Bhongir is run by M/s Transcend Adventures Private Limited, Hyderabad in association with AP Tourism. The training and course was under the guidance of Sri.
