Kodandaram condemns CM’s representation to GoM

Hyderabad, Nov 18 : Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Monday condemned the contention of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy that division of Andhra Pradesh would escalate the problems of naxalism and terrorism.

Talking to reporters here, Kodandaram said that the Chief Minister’s views were illogical and aimed at misleading the Group of Ministers (GoM) in the name of security concern. He asked the Chief Minister to substantiate his argument as to how the formation of Telangana would promote naxalism. Similarly, the Chief Minister should explain as to how an undivided Andhra Pradesh would prevent terrorists’ activities. He said both naxalism and terrorism were national issues being dealt by the Centre and respective State Governments. Therefore, linking naxalism and terrorism to Telangana formation was wrong.

Kodandaram asked if a larger State could effectively handle these issues, then why incidents of Maoists violence and terror attacks ever happened in Andhra Pradesh. He advised the GoM not to get misled with the Chief Minister’s presentation which was not based on facts. Accusing Kiran Kumar Reddy of resorting to opportunistic politics, he demanded that he resign from his post immediately. INN
