Hyderabad, Nov 13 : GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has promised to address the grievances represented to him by the employees and contract workers at the West Zone office on Wednesday.
Gandaiah, Office Subordinate complained to the Commissioner about the delay in his medical reimbursement claims of around Rs 46,000 for the last six years. Despite several attempts made earlier, he is still visiting the Zonal Office for his medical reimbursement. The Commissioner instructed the Zonal Commissioner that the issue be settled at the earliest and asked the employee to meet him personally if the claim was not settled within a week.
The GHMC Commissioner held a redressal of employees grievances day in West Zone today and received 45 grievances from the employees. Earlier, the Commissioner along with senior officials visited continental hospital where the health care screening camps were being conducted for the sanitation staff of West Zone. The Commissioner enquired about the facilities of medical checkup etc., with the employees and distributed health check up cards given by the continental hospital authorities to the sanitation staff.
He directed the Addl. Commissioner (H&S) and Zonal Commissioners to tie up with the Corporate hospitals in their jurisdictions duly coordinating with them to take up the medical facilities to the employees on par with Government’s Aarogya Shree scheme. He further said that it would be more beneficial to the employees as they are spending money for their ailments in the hospitals and getting the medical reimbursement after a long time.
The Commissioner said that after visiting all the Zones it has been decided to take up special drives on the major grievances received from the employees which are genuine in nature. There is a need to take up the issues on priority basis to solve them in a stipulated time. He expressed confidence that all the GHMC employees would work more effectively and motivatedly when their grievances are addressed. He further stated that his vision is to have a grievance free and pollution free GHMC and greener Hyderabad City.
Somesh Kumar visited the Khaitlapur dumping yard and transfer station and interacted with all the drivers, helpers and sanitary supervisors where they have represented their grievances such as they are not getting the soaps, oil and other conservancy materials are also not being issued in time. Outsourcing employees have requested the Commissioner to issue salaries slips and as well as the PF particulars etc., so that they will be able to know the amount at their credit. Responding to the plea, the Commissioner directed the Zonal Commissioner that to examine the same and sort out all the issues within a week and see that the salaries and other conservancies be given on time without fail.
GHMEU President U Gopal represented the Commissioner that all the outsourcing and permanent employees have been given ATM cards but bank authorities are insisting that the account holders maintain minimum Rs 1,000 balance in their savings account. The Commissioner promised to speak to the banks on opening no-frills (No minimum balance) accounts for the employees.
Responding to the request of the employees for provision of salary slips and provident fund details in all most all the zones, the Commissioner has promised to issue the same very soon. As promised, the Commissioner later distributed PF slips to the sanitation wing of West Zone.
