Police foil pro-Telangana protests

Hyderabad, Oct 26 : Tension prevailed in some areas of Hyderabad and its surroundings on Saturday when police foiled the protests by pro-Telangana activists against the “Samaikhya Shankaravam” meeting of YSR Congress party.

The students of Osmania University tried to take out a bike rally from the university premises in protest against the YSRCP meeting. However, they were stopped at the NOC Gate and forced to return. The students had a heated argument with the security personnel for foiling the rally.

The police had to resort to mild lathicharge at the Nizam College Hostel to disburse the pro-Telangana students who were protesting against the Samiakhyandhra meeting. The students took out a mock funeral procession and set ablaze the effigy of YSRCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Similar protests were held at LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar, Nallakunta and other parts of the city. INN
